Ciao!
So yesterday I had my first exam (eek!) and then Chris came up for a little revision break. As usual we went shopping, it seems we do nothing else! I spotted these little beauties in Boots, and got very excited as I know they were on the way but hadn't realised they were released yet. As a Real Techniques junkie I was desperate for them however my measly student budget struggles to accommodate my spending habits so I decided for once to have a bit of self control. I then proceeded to complain about the fact I hadn't got them for the rest of the afternoon until Chris got fed up of listening to me and decided to treat me, what an angel. So anyway, after that long and pointless story I will tell you a bit more about them:
Real Techniques Duo-Fibre Collection |
I already own many a Real Techniques brush and so knew these new additions would be no different, however as they name suggests they are Duo-Fibre brushes making them a little bit different. For a start the bristles are not as dense meaning that a smaller amount of product is collected on the brush which makes them ideal for summer when we go for a little lighter coverage. Having said this though you can really build up coverage with these brushes depending on your preference. Duo-Fibre bristles are also super super soft and extremely easy to clean which is always a bonus in my opinion. The set costs £23.99 which is slightly higher than the usual £21.99 prove tag for Real Techniques sets, but worth the tiny bit extra in my opinion. The only negative about these bushes compared to the usual ones is the white shiny metal handles as opposed to the brushed metal coloured handles of the others, but that's just me being picky!
Duo-Fibre Face Brush: So far I have just been using this brush for powder, but so far so good! I have slightly oily skin which means powder can quite easily look caked on even if its just a small amount, but this brush applies a very thin even layer without leaving excess product on the skin, which is a winner in my book! I also this this one would be great for Bronzer all over the face for a sun kissed summer look.
Duo-Fibre Contour Brush: As the name suggests this brush is aimed at use for contouring, although so far I have used it for highlighting as I think it is a really good sizer for going along the tops of the cheekbones. I want to try it out next with my Chanel Tan De Chanel as it is very easy to put too much of it on and you end up looking quite orange but I think this brush will help to give a more even subtle look.
Duo-Fibre Eye Brush: According to the box this is a brush for "adding finishing touches to the eyes". Therefore I have used it for far for highlighter on the inner corners of my eye and the brow bone and I think the results were pretty good, again because a smaller amount of product is picked up by the brush. Because the brush is a rounded shape not flat like most eye brushes this will also be great for using in the crease of the eye too. I have also used it to blend in concealer under the eye and around the nose.
Overall I am really pleased with these bushes and all three are a great addition to my collection offering something different to regular make up brushes and they are all very versatile in their use.
Real Techniques is available in most Boots stores (and some larger Superdrug stores) although smaller shops only carry a reduced selection of the range. The Duo-Fibre set is a limited edition collection although I believe they will be around for a year so not all that limited!
Thanks for stopping by,
H x
